Bombay prayeth for:-

I beg to report for your information most respectfully that on the 12th.of September last, I shipped on board an English bark in New York as able seaman, Bark "Nellie Troop". She is lying still in Manila. I strongly believe Your
Excellency that she will stop here for two months more.
On our passage out Your Excellency the captain
of that said ship did duly authorize his officers to knock us about with belaying pins, some of us came to Manila with
broken noses, and ears all smashed up, our backs sadly lace- rated with wounds and bruised blood all over. Some of us have
been in the hospital nearly dead. We all went ashore, and showed to the British Consul our ears,heads, backs anu legs arms as well. He told us he will send for the captain which. he did. He said that the captain deserved to be severely
punished for this act
